As if you needed another excuse to book your next holiday, we can now reveal that it’s cheaper to go on a round-the-world cruise than it is to live in London.
We’ve done the research, we found that it is cheaper by more than £7-a-day to live on a cruise ship than in the nation’s capital.
Life in London comes to £2,871.19-a-month on average – or £95.71 a day – including rent, rates, food, travel and entertainment. This is in comparison with a Cruise & Maritime Voyages, 120-day, full-board, round-the-world cruise, including single supplement, which costs £88.53 per day.
Aside from stops in many ports including Barbados, Mexico and Australia, the fare includes main meals, afternoon tea, hot drinks, entertainment and port taxes. And it all costs £7.18 less a day than living in London.
With similar deals available throughout the year, it’s no surprise the cruise industry grew by 9% in 2015. Data from Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) also shows that one-in-nine package holidays booked in 2015 was a cruise, up from one-in-ten the year before.
Our Marketing Director, Ian Crawford commented: “It’s easy to see why world cruises are an attractive option for travellers with a bit more disposable income and time on their hands. If you want to see the world in the height of luxury, this is the way to do it. We expect to see booking figures continue to increase as people realise just how attractive cruise holidays are”.
