Renowned for record breaking features and first-at-sea experiences, Royal Caribbean® has pulled it out the bag again. Announcing their newest fun-filled addition, Skypad, get ready to experience virtual reality meeting bungee trampolining onboard their famous fleet member, Independence of the Seas.
What will the Skypad include?
Set to bring guests an extraordinary adventure during their spring refurbishment, the Skypad will be shaped like a giant planet painted bright yellow, turning LED-blue at night.
Inside you’ll find bungee trampolines and virtual reality headsets which will transport you into another time – or maybe another planet! Bounce over the moon or compete in intergalactic games – it’s fun for all ages.
Michael Bayley, president and chief executive at Royal Caribbean said: “The number one thing that came back (in the competition feedback) was the bungee trampoline, but we thought we needed to make it more innovative than just a bungee trampoline.
“We are building this giant planet-shaped structure up on top of the deck by FlowRider – you can see from a distance that it is going to be prominent.”
Will the Skypad feature on any other Royal Caribbean ship?
Independence of the Seas will be the first to feature this impressive activity, but Mariner of the Seas will soon follow suit as part of her $90 million refurbishment this year.
If all goes well, Royal Caribbean will look to make it a permanent activity onboard all their ships.
What else can I expect?
You might be impressed by the Skypad, but it’s also been revealed that Independence of the Seas will boast a Planet Z Lazer tag – the largest laser tag on the ocean – Perfect Storm water slides, Playmakers Sports Bar and the puzzle game Escape room. Exciting!
